Pioneer Nuggets Grow Facility Visit

The friendly budtenders at Bud Hut pride themselves on always being able to give great recommendations to customers. Of course, that means we have to smoke tons of different strains — which is exactly the kind of “occupational hazard” the makes us all love our jobs. But along with smoking and experimenting all kinds of cannabis products, we also take field trips to visit some of Washington’s wonderful producers and processors.

One of the recent places we’ve visited was Pioneer Nuggets in Arlington. This is a fantastic facility that grows all of its crops completely indoors. The greenhouse is equipped with a state-of-the-art HVAC system, and each crop is grown 60 plants at a time. The relatively small crop size allows the Pioneer Nuggets team to give every plant tons of attention.

While the Pioneer Nuggets horticulture environment might be totally modern, the farming methods are decidedly old-school. Every plant is lovingly hand watered, hand trimmed, and hand processed, and the results are easy to see. Everyone at the shop had been big fans of Pioneer Nuggets, so we were super excited to go see the facility first hand, and the staff there really rolled out the red carpet for us.

Overall, it was a pretty extensive tour. We all brought a change of clothes (the cleaner the better), we changed, got visitor badges, and then we were lead downstairs by the master grower. They began by showing us the nutrients and all the vitamins they give to the plants — everything is pesticide free — then they took us room by room. We started with baby plants and clones and went through the rooms week to week. So we saw plants in every stage of growth including drying, curing, trimming, packaging and labeling. It was in incredible tour which lasted about an hour and a half, and our whole team found it very educational.
